SPG Minigolf day
Our group meeting last week was a game of mini golf – a great way to enjoy the summer weather. Congrats to Brandon who is this year’s SPG mini golf champion. Brandon also did a great job analyzing the “data” created by our scores (see figure below)
Mooring Cruise on 30 Jun 2023
We had another day cruise out to visit our mooring on the Encourager with Captain Jarrett Drake. This time we did a quick turn-around: replacing the batteries and SD card with the acoustic data, then replacing the mooring to collect another 6 weeks or so of data. Perfect weather and calm seas made for an easy cruise. 
CJ Passed His MS Defense!
Congrats to CJ Berg on passing his MS defense “A comparison of two approaches for rainfall estimation from underwater acoustics in Buzzards Bay” this morning! CJ will be wrapping up his thesis revisions before starting at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI in Code 1513.

David passed his oral exams on Tuesday 25 April 2023.
His dissertation proposal is “Robust Spectral Estimation and Adaptive Beamforming with Linear Combinations of Order Statistics”
